Errin, our activities co-ordinator, recently returned from a week in Gambia, spending four days at the Mo Beta schools🌍

The group received a warm welcome and an emotional farewell, creating an unforgettable experience🥹

As a result of their efforts, three classrooms were repainted, two classrooms gained new roofing constructed by local tradespeople, 24 school tables were repaired or built, and a model chair was created for use in future projects. These changes directly improved school infrastructure and resources💪

By playing and learning with the children, the team helped develop English language skills. The group also distributed over 300 donated pencil cases to students and delivered football kits from Bedwell Rangers to a local academy, providing practical and recreational resources to support learning and wellbeing!

Sanitary products were provided to schools and women’s refuge centres to address hygiene needs. Other donated items, such as water bottles, beach balls, and stickers, enhanced daily activities and supported student engagement.

A collaborative tree painting allowed every volunteer and school staff member to contribute a handprint, fostering a sense of unity and leaving a lasting piece of art at the school as a symbol of partnership🎨

The group also explored Gambian culture, local markets, and remote areas. Although some faced brief illness, their enthusiasm ensured every moment was meaningful.

Errin has shared her gratitude to everyone who donated and supported the effort. All fundraising went directly to the work carried out. Each volunteer covered their own travel and accommodation♥️

Movie Night (August 2025)

Our recent activity included a trip to Hollywood for movie night! Our residents got comfy and settled down to embark on their next cinematic adventure. Our cinema nights are a hit with everyone, offering a range of movie to suit everyone. From old time classics to action packed stories and every funny, surprising, and emotional movie in between, movie night really is a treat.

Movie nights are an amazing atmosphere within the home, transporting the residents to different worlds. From the golden age of Hollywood to contemporary blockbusters there is certainly something for everyone.

Classic films are a real favourite and hold a special place in our hearts. The sense of nostalgia and timeless entertainment they bring are comforting to our residents in making them relive special moment within their life.

No movie night is complete without popcorn, and ours is no different…although it does mysteriously disappear. Even on special occasions, we throw in unexpected twists like trivia games and themed snacks. Whether it’s the sound of laughter, debates over who the villain is or gasping at thriller scenes, the screen brings everyone together and unites residents and strengthens their friendships with one another.

At Hatfield Manor, movie night isn’t just watching a film- it’s the shared stories, laughter, and joy it brings to everyone. Although we may not be in Hollywood, it certainly feels like we are on the red carpet with the five-star company we have.
